all doctors have a great manner and appear to be genuinely concerned in your health and wellbeing. It is almost always possible to get an appointment within a week with your chosen doctor, and a next day telephone appointment or appointment with any doctor is usually available too. The surgery is clean and light and airy following a recent refurb. Prescriptions very simple and the pharmacy is practically next door. Appointment slips are given and texts sent for appointments, which is a nice touch - there is no excuse to be late!

I'd like to praise the receptionists, who always listen and really try to help. Every time, they have found a solution for me and my family.

Drs seem nformed and caring. The wait after arrival to see doctor can seem excessive. An hour or more on occasion with no explanation or apology from any member of staff. Reception staff often appear busy when you arrive. Understandable but why don't they make the effort to smile and greet patients? You can feel completely ignored. Are they really that miserable??

Cross Deep Surgery is very busy. It's almost impossible to get an appointment when you need it. Usually, you have to wait 1.5 - 2 weeks to see a doctor. Doctors are not very interested in healing you. It is a conveyor of patients. During 10 minutes of your appointment you will be given a prescription for antibiotics, and advised to take some paracetamol. Blood test / urine test are done very rarely, although they sound very efficient in diagnosing some diseases. That could be NHS, which ask GPs to reduce operational costs. Getting a referral to a specialist (hospital) is very tricky. You also be charged to get a referral to a specialist for private treatment.

Over the years I have found the Doctors variable, with the female doctors a little more empathetic. Some of the negatives are possibly more to do with their budget constraints than a willingness to help. Reception can be very helpful. Conversely, sometimes you feel like asking for your repeat prescription is an inconvenience. On the subject of prescriptions, although the electronic prescription service works well on the whole, I have sometimes found my prescription has not gone to the pharmacy and I am left in the middle of the Surgery and Pharmacy blaming each other for a breakdown in the system.
